Personal Training

Personal training options are available for almost any individual that has a specific fitness or health goal. Whether a person is de-conditioned or is an athlete, enjoys good health or is in the process of restoring their health, is younger or older, personal training options exist. Interested individuals will be assessed for compatibility with a specific trainer, and certain individuals will need a physician’s release for participation. Physician releases, if required, should include any medical recommendations and any exercise restrictions. Individuals must be willing to commit to a program and be willing to honor scheduling commitments with the trainer.
Participants in the personal training program usually have a specific reason for choosing individual instruction by a qualified trainer. Therefore, the programs are customized to meet the objectives of the participant. The trainer will provide the education, motivation, resources, and equipment the participant needs to reach their goals. Typical goals include greater strength and endurance, weight loss, managing a medical diagnosis or disease process, rejuvenation of a fitness program, and conditioning for specific sport or fitness goals. Personal training for older adults may involve focus in areas such as balance and fall prevention, improving mobility or flexibility, strengthening of specific joints or muscles, or simply maintaining an active lifestyle.
Upon initiation of a personal training program, the instructor will discuss the participant’s goals, will review medical history, will evaluate the individual’s experience and attitude toward exercise and diet, and will decide on an overall fitness plan. A typical program would start with a fitness assessment and documentation of measurable and replicable fitness data. The program sessions will be structured to meet the participant’s personal training objectives. The trainer will provide the motivation and accountability necessary to achieve the outlined goals of the individual. Re-evaluation of fitness data will be done on a regular basis. Each trainer will be a degreed fitness professional or will hold a nationally recognized certification for fitness training.
