Employee Health Program
(Pilot Program)

Participants in the employee health program are selected by the employer through an application process. Generally, applicants must be motivated to improve their health, must be willing to make the time commitment necessary for the program, and must be willing to participate in the employer health initiatives for approximately one year. Interested applicants will be selected by a health review committee chosen by the employer. The health review committee will confidentially review the submitted applications and select a pre-determined number of participants for the program.
The purpose of the program is to affect the overall health culture of the sponsoring employer. The program is not intended to replace general wellness programs that may include all employees, but is intended to concentrate specific provider resources on a select employee group. Provider resources may include licensed health professionals, fitness instructors, nutritionists, and educators. The focused intervention of these providers on a limited employee group is designed to not only radically modify the individual lifestyles of the participants, but to also positively influence and motivate other employees. Participants in the program are encouraged to be mentors to future chosen applicants in succeeding years.
After selection, participants will begin the program by having initial consultations with various health professionals. Assessments will include beginning fitness levels, current nutritional habits, and a review of certain medical history and individual health risks. At the end of the program, a reassessment will be made to review the modifications and improvements made in each of these areas. Each participant will have scheduled appointments with a registered dietitian and with a fitness professional. Participants will have opportunities to educate themselves on various aspects of health, including education on the best way to utilize the health care system. Various professionals will be engaged with each participant to maintain accountability and to provide direction and advice.
