More About Us
In my career I have been granted a unique opportunity to observe certain things that have shaped and defined my perspective of the health care system and personal health. I have been able to observe various aspects of the aging process, which has been (and continues to be) one of the most fascinating studies of my life. I have been able to watch many individuals and families as they attempt to navigate through the health care system. For many years I have also been able to observe the mindset of individuals as they experience health problems or health events. What makes my position somewhat unique, beyond the many other health care professionals who have witnessed many of the same things, is that in some capacity my career also allows me to influence the future direction of how people manage their health and how they experience health care services.
As I age, I become more passionate about preventative health and taking personal responsibility for our own daily choices. Changing the habits and the culture of our society is the only legitimate method for correcting our health care system. Educating ourselves on how the health care system works is truly a part of our social responsibility. I believe that understanding the human body is one of the most fascinating and necessary achievements one can accomplish in life. I believe this because it affects everything that we do: our quality of life, our ability to interact with others, our financial and retirement planning, our family and career achievements, and even our ability to maintain a sound and rational mind.
Programs With a Purpose® is simply the result of years of observation. It is an attempt to correct many of the deficiencies that exist in the health care system. It was developed based on the following premises:
- Health care services are complicated for the consumer.
- Health care services are often fragmented and segregated.
- Health care services continue to be pushed “downstream.”
- Health care providers are frustrated by illogical business models.
- Health care is often reactive when it should be proactive.
While I am unable to explain in detail each of these items in this format, let it be sufficient at this point to say that Programs With a Purpose® attempts to correct these issues and “flaws” within our current health care delivery system. Integrated in everything we do is the philosophy that people (i.e. the consumer, patient, client or member) is the most important component of the system. Providers need to have the tools to passionately and efficiently manage the health of people.
Reimbursement models, as broken as they may be, need to be understood and utilized properly. Wellness programs and prevention methods need to permeate into our culture, so that collectively we may understand that one of the greatest gifts that we have been given is our health.
